Far Cry 4: Valley of the Yetis is the latest DLC of the last release in the first-person shooter Far Cry saga. Developed and published by Ubisoft, this expansion brings again our beloved protagonist Ajay Ghale to fight against the legend monsters of the Himalayas, the yetis. It is available on the PlayStation Network for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, on Xbox Live for Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and for PC.
In Valley of the Yetis, you will control Ajay again, and after surviving a helicopter crash in one of the most inhospitable areas of the Himalayas, you will found that Pagan Min is not the only threat in your path. Without the equipment that you get in the main game, your mission will be finding the pilot, who has apparently survived, and escape the valley you are located. However, everything will become more dangerous, because in Far Cry nothing is as easy as it seems. A dark cult that has been living in the zone for a long time has taken the pilot and he is kept against his will in some place of the mountains of Kyrat. Soon, you will be involved in a story of myths and legends that will test you to the limits.
Ubisoft has not improved the graphic aspect, compared to the main game, because the level of detail and realism of Far Cry 4 is difficult to beat. You will be immersed in an almost fully white environment in which everything is full of snow. It is really overwhelming because it seems you are there. Moreover, when you find the yetis (or they find you...), you will see until the last hair moving.
The great change in this DLC, related to Far Cry 4, is its structure based on three days, with its day/night cycle. During the day, you will have to complete some missions to collect resources and defenses for your "shelter" because the night is the difficult part. During the night, waves of enemies will attack your shelter and you will have to defend it. You will have to improve the defenses of your station, and you have to do it by completing some special secondary missions that are placed all around the map. You will have to think carefully about your strategy for the nights, because it is not easy to survive.
This DLC have 6 main missions in which you will discover more details about the Cult of Yalung and what is happening in the valley. In addition, between missions you can explore the map (it is an open world, as Far Cry 4). Exploring is essential since it the only way to find weapons. As mentioned, you start with no weapons, and the first one you will find is an arrow. It is useful, but not against ten enemies at a time. Only exploring you will find better a better armory to defend yourself against cultists and yetis.
Another challenge (or drawback for some players...) is that you will have lost all your abilities and skills, so you must defeat enemies and get XP to get them back. However, do not worry too much, you will get XP much faster than in the main game, so you will not have to wait too long to get your skills back.
The most difficult part of the DLC are the yetis. They are not simple enemies, they are gigantic and your weapons will tickle them. You will have two ways to face them; use all your ammo and explosives to knock them down (which can be a bit difficult), or play on with a more difficult strategy that requires less bullets but more risk. The head is the most vulnerable part of the yetis. If you aim there, you will hurt them more, and at a certain point, they will be wobbly and the will fall. If right at this moment you get close, you can hit them with a special move. Of course, if the yeti reacts before you have time to perform your movement, you will be crushed in a blow.
